For the 7th time the Strzemiński Academy of Fine Arts Łódź (Poland) in cooperation with International Art Centre KAUS Urbino invites artists and art enthusiasts to take part in the International Summer Courses - Printmaking and Textile Art (PATA). Its six successful editions brought to Łódź people from over 30 countries including Italy, the USA, Canada, China and the Republic of South Africa. The offer of the seventh edition of the courses addressed to both beginning and experienced artists is divided into two parts. As usual the didactic offer includes interdisciplinary courses: a graphic design course, a course of comics and game and film pre-production and a handmade paper course.
Between the 16th and 30th of July 2019 PATA participants will have an opportunity to gain new experience in fields such as handmade paper on a course run by dr. hab. Magdalena Soboń, textile print on prof. Krystyna Czajkowska’s course and graphic design - ecoposter and typespotting, whose secrets will be introduced by dr Jakub Stępień. The July session will also include a course combining sculpture, spatial installation and book art. Prof. Dariusz Kaca’s course Matrix + Print =
Installation/Book Art will provide a chance to experiment in these fields.
Between 5th and 17th of August 2019 course participants will delve into the secrets of lithography, intaglio and relief print with dr Tomasz Matczak, textile art combining art and design with prof. Jolanta Rudzka Habisiak, and comics and game and film pre-production with prof. Gabriel Kołat.
This year’s special guest of PATA is prof. Marilène Oliver from the Canadian University of Alberta who during the August session will run a course on Printmaking in the 3rd and 4th Dimension. Participants will have an opportunity to broaden their printmaking experience by creating 3D objects and combining printmaking with 4D media (eg. films, videos, animations).
Łódź Academy, which celebrated its 70th anniversary in 2015, has always been an important reference point both in Poland and abroad for all interested in graphic and textile art. The success of Łódź summer courses encourages us to continue and further develop this initiative for the benefit of the promotion of the rich and varied artistic tradition of our city.
Each single course comprises 90 didactic hours. At the end of the course participants receive a certificate of completion (3 ECTS credits) and ‘Final Show’, an international exhibition of participants’ works, is organized at the Academy.
